Avoid using footnotes
Footnotes are to be avoided whenever possible.  Instead, include the footnote information into the main copy so the customer doesn’t have to go elsewhere for the information.

However, if it is necessary to use footnotes, ensure they are clearly marked, and that multiple footnotes are delineated by up to 3 asterisks or by different symbols, ie.

*Gold card holders only.

^Gold members who earn 5,000 Tier Points will be issued with a Concorde Room Card.

When using an asterisk to reference a footnote, the * symbol must be placed directly beside the text to which it applies (without any spaces), and the  footnote positioned at the bottom of the page, again with no spaces between the asterisk and the text.
